Kenner’s Pontchartrain Center, located on the shores of Lake Pontchartrain, hosts events year round. You’ll also find casino gaming, outdoor parks and the historic district of Rivertown.
Kenner is a suburb of New Orleans, Louisiana, located on the east bank of Jefferson Parish, approximately 10 miles west of the city. It is the location of New Orleans International Airport. René-Robert Cavelier landed on this stretch of the north shore of the Mississippi River in 1682.
History. Robert Cavalier, Sieur de LaSalle began his expedition down the Mississippi River in 1682, claiming the entire Mississippi watershed in the name of France.
