Anne Fleischman Bernays is an American editor, novelist, and nonfiction writer. Her literary work is notable for its exploration of Jewish experiences of America, the pressure of assimilation, and the then-taboo subject of sexual harassment.
A novelist, journalist and educator, ANNE BERNAYS has been writing for over 40 years. Born and raised on the east side of New York City, Bernays would read everything that she could get her hands on. She attended Barnard College in 1950, later working for the now-defunct literary magazine Discovery and as an assistant editor for Houghton Mifflin.
Anne Bernays, the daughter of Doris Fleischman Bernays, is the author of nine novels, among them the award-winning Growing Up Rich and Professor Romeo. With Pamela Painter, she is the co-author of What If?, a book of writing exercises for fiction writers.
