In 1630s Paris, Athos, Aramis, and Porthos are a group of highly trained musketeers commanded by Captain Treville who meet D'Artagnan, a skillful farm boy with hopes of becoming a musketeer. The series follows them as they fight to protect King and country.

In remaking the series, Adrian Hodges worked to avoid criticisms of the 1970s series, and he felt it was "important that a new version had a cultural and class mix that really represented the country as it is now"; to meet their needs, they created two new characters, Al and Najid.
He is co-creator of the ITV sci-fi drama Primeval, for which he wrote nine episodes in five series. In 2008 he was also reported to be working on and a new adaptation of Silas Marner. On 22 November 2007, the BBC announced that they were going to remake Survivors, as written by Adrian Hodges.
Adrian Hodges (born 4 February 1957) is the creator and lead writer of the series, The Musketeers. He therefore also serves as executive producer alongside Jessica Pope. Aside from The Musketeers, Hodges is best known for his remake of Survivors and for Primeval, which he also created.
