Hiram Wesley Evans (September 26, 1881 – September 14, 1966) was the Imperial Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan, an American white supremacist group, from 1922 to his resignation in 1939. A native of Alabama , Evans attended Vanderbilt University and became a dentist.

20 de ago. de 2020 · Footnote 37 Hiram Wesley Evans (1881–1966), who at the time served as Grand Dragon (head of a regional Klan domain) of Dallas, succeeded Simmons as head of the national movement. Evans’ leadership marked an ideological and political turning point for the Klan.
Texas dentist Hiram Evans assumed leadership of the organization in 1926. In this speech he reveals that the Klan was fundamentally a protest against all of the ills associated with modern culture. The Klan, therefore, has now come to speak for the great mass of Americans of the old pioneer stock.
