Derek Walcott (Castries, 23 de janeiro de 1930 – Santa Lúcia, 17 de março de 2017 [1]) foi um escritor santa-lucense. Recebeu o Nobel de Literatura de 1992.
Sir Derek Alton Walcott KCSL OBE OM OCC (23 January 1930 – 17 March 2017) was a Saint Lucian poet and playwright. He received the 1992 Nobel Prize in Literature. [1] His works include the Homeric epic poem Omeros (1990), which many critics view "as Walcott's major achievement." [2]

17 de mar. de 2017 · Biographical. Derek Walcott was born in 1930 in the town of Castries in Saint Lucia, one of the Windward Islands in the Lesser Antilles. The experience of growing up on the isolated volcanic island, an ex-British colony, has had a strong influence on Walcott’s life and work.
