Sir George Russell Drysdale AC (7 February 1912 – 29 June 1981), also known as Tass Drysdale, was an Australian artist. He won the prestigious Wynne Prize for Sofala in 1947, and represented Australia at the Venice Biennale in 1954.

Drysdale - the pioneer of the Australian landscape. The late Sir Russell Drysdale, more than any other Australian artist, was responsible for the images of corrosion, decay, rusting tin and bleached skeletons of animals in sandy spaces which have dominated Australian landscape painting since the 1940s.
Russell Drysdale painted some of the iconic landscapes of the Australian outback, and in the 1940s his paintings and drawings enabled city people to see the devastation of drought on a dry land.
