Sir John Clifford Mortimer CBE QC FRSL (21 April 1923 – 16 January 2009) was a British barrister, dramatist, screenwriter and author. He is best known for short stories about a barrister named Horace Rumpole , adapted from episodes of the TV series Rumpole of the Bailey also written by Mortimer.
Sir John Mortimer (born April 21, 1923, Hampstead, London, Eng.—died Jan. 16, 2009, near Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, Eng.) was an English barrister and writer who wrote plays for the stage, television, radio, and motion pictures, as well as novels and autobiographical works.
