Peter Debye was a Dutch-born physicist and chemist who made significant contributions to molecular structure and X-ray diffraction. He taught and researched at various universities in Europe and the US, and received many honors and awards, including the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1936.
Em 1952 o professor Debye resignou ao cargo na Universidade de Cornell. Trabalhou no desenvolvimento da teoria quântica da física molecular e da teoria de estrutura da matéria. Entre outros inúmeros prémios, Peter Debye foi galardoado, em 1936, com o Prémio Nobel da Química.
