Roger Michael Needham CBE FRS FREng (9 February 1935 – 1 March 2003) was a British computer scientist.

Roger M Needham, born 1935, was in computing at Cambridge since 1956. His 1961 PhD thesis was on the application of digital computers to problems of classification and grouping.

Roger Needham : an informal memoir. 1935 - 2003. Roger was the only child of Len and Mollie Needham, who met as chemistry students at Birmingham University. He had a happy childhood in Sheffield, going to school there and later in Doncaster.
