James Gardner March (January 15, 1928 – September 27, 2018) was an American political scientist, sociologist, and economist.

16 de set. de 2019 · James G. March, one of organisation theory’s most influential scholars, died in September 2018. From 1963 to 1969, he was the founding Dean of UC-Irvine’s School of Social Sciences where he led a unique and influential experiment in organisation, pedagogy and social scientific inquiry.
James G. March and Johan P. Olsen showed how the logic of appropriateness inverts the causal logic of rational decision making. Individuals form opinions and make decisions to be appropriate in their surroundings, to fit in with those around them.
