Louis IX of Hesse-Darmstadt (German: Ludwig) (15 December 1719 – 6 April 1790) was Landgrave of Hesse-Darmstadt from 1768 to 1790.

17 de out. de 2023 · Louis IX ruled his inheritance under the regency of his father until he became of age in 1740. He then ruled his lands in his own right with a residence in the capital of that area, Buchsweiler (Bouxwiller, France).
Marriage. On 12 August 1741, he married Caroline, daughter of Christian III, Duke of Zweibrücken . Issue. Princess Princess Karoline of Hesse-Darmstadt (1746–1821) married Frederick V, Landgrave of Hesse-Homburg. Princess Friederike of Hesse-Darmstadt (1751–1805) married King Friedrich Wilhelm II of Prussia and became Queen of Prussia.
The Landgraviate of Hesse-Darmstadt ( German: Landgrafschaft Hessen-Darmstadt) was a State of the Holy Roman Empire, ruled by a younger branch of the House of Hesse. It was formed in 1567 following the division of the Landgraviate of Hesse among the four sons of Landgrave Philip I .
