Edviges Isabel Carlota (Eutin, 22 de março de 1759 – Estocolmo, 20 de junho de 1818) foi a esposa do rei Carlos XIII & II e rainha consorte da Suécia de 1809 até 1818, e também rainha consorte da Noruega entre 1814 e 1818.

She served as regent during the minority of her son, King Charles XI, from 1660 until 1672, and during the minority of her grandson, King Charles XII, in 1697.
Hedvig Eleonora was the daughter of Fredrik III of Holstein Gottorp and Maria Eleonora of Saxony. She grew up in a culturally prominent Baroque court, where art and knowledge were of great importance.

Known for her invaluable diary which described the Swedish royal court from 1775-1817, Hedwig Elisabeth Charlotte of Holstein-Gottorp was born on March 22, 1759, in Eutin, Duchy of Oldenburg, now in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein.
The Dukes of Holstein-Gottorp shared the uneasy rule of Schleswig and Holstein with the Kings of Denmark. As such, they were often allies (practically clients) of the Swedes, enemies of the Danes.
