O príncipe João Augusto de Anhalt-Zerbst (29 de Julho de 1677 - 7 de Novembro de 1742) foi um príncipe alemão da Casa de Ascânia e governante do principado de Anhalt-Zerbst. Era o filho mais velho do príncipe Carlos de Anhalt-Zerbst e da sua esposa, a duquesa Sofia de Saxe-Weissenfels. Biografia

Cristiano Augusto (Dornburg, 29 de novembro de 1690 – Zerbst, 16 de março de 1747) foi o Príncipe de Anhalt-Dornburg de 1704 até sua morte, e também Príncipe de Anhalt-Zerbst a partir de 1742. Era filho de João Luís I, Príncipe de Anhalt-Dornburg, e Cristina Leonor de Zeutsch, sendo o pai da imperatriz Catarina II da Rússia .

Várias incorporações de territórios, Anhalt-Plötzkau em 1553, Anhalt-Dessau em 1561 e Anhalt-Köthen em 1562, possibilitaram a Joaquim Ernesto, filho de João V, Príncipe de Anhalt-Zerbst, unir todas as terras de Anhalt sob seu comando em 1570.

Anhalt-Zerbst was a principality of the Holy Roman Empire ruled by the House of Ascania, with its residence at Zerbst in present-day Saxony-Anhalt. It emerged as a subdivision of the Principality of Anhalt from 1252 until 1396, when it was divided into the principalities of Anhalt-Dessau and Anhalt-Köthen.
