Margaret de Clare, Countess of Gloucester, Countess of Cornwall (12 October 1293 – 9 April 1342) was an English noblewoman, heiress, and the second eldest of the three daughters of Gilbert de Clare, 6th Earl of Hertford and his wife Joan of Acre, making her a granddaughter of King Edward I of England.

Brief Life History of Margaret. When Margaret de Clare was born on 1 April 1287, in Bunratty Castle, County Clare, Ireland, her father, Sir Thomas de Clare 1st Lord of Thomond, was 42 and her mother, Juliana Fitzgerald Lady of Thomond, was 20. She married Gilbert De Umfreville before 1303.
Margaret's brother Gilbert died at the Battle of Bannockburn (1314), and Margaret spent a number of years in debate with her two sisters over the division of the de Clare inheritance. By 1317, Margaret had married Hugh Audley, another favorite of the king's, but the marriage produced no children. Margaret died in April 1342. Margaret in Marlowe
