Gian Maria Visconti (or Giovanni Maria; 7 September 1388 – 16 May 1412) was the second Visconti Duke of Milan, the son of Gian Galeazzo Visconti and Caterina Visconti. He was known to be cruel and was eventually assassinated. He had no children.
Giovanni Maria Visconti (* 7. September 1388 in Abbiategrasso ; † 16. Mai 1412 in Mailand ) aus der Familie Visconti wurde 1402 zum Herzog von Mailand proklamiert, nachdem sein Vater Gian Galeazzo Visconti in Pavia und zur Zeit einer Belagerung von Florenz an der Pest verstorben war.

In 1404 Giovanni Maria became the new Duke of Milan. Ruling under the influence of his mother's opposers, he induced her to leave Milan for Monza. There, on 17 October 1404, she died in unclear circumstances. During the rule of Giovanni Maria, the political crisis deteriorated.
Son of Gian Galaeazzo Visconti and his wife Caterina Visconti; in 1408 he married Antonia, daughter of Carlo I Malatesta, Lord of Rimini. Renowned for his cruelty, he was assassinated outside the church of San Gottardo, Milan. His brother Filippo Maria Visconti (q.v.) succeeded him as Duke.
