Richard John Carew Chartres, Baron Chartres, GCVO, ChStJ, PC, FSA, FBS (/ ˈ tʃ ɑːr t ər z /; born 11 July 1947) is a retired senior bishop of the Church of England. Chartres served as area Bishop of Stepney from 1992 to 1995 and Bishop of London from 1995 to 2017.
Richard John Carew Chartres KCVO (Hertfordshire, 11 de Julho de 1947) é um bispo aposentado da Igreja da Inglaterra e membro da Câmara dos Lordes. Chartres estudou no Trinity College (Cambridge) e foi ordenado sacerdote em 1974. Foi professor no Gresham College (1987-1992) e Bispo de Stepney (1992-1995).
Lord Chartres is a crossbench peer and the former Bishop of London. He has served on various parliamentary committees since 2017, including the Secondary Legislation Scrutiny Committee and the Statutory Instruments (Joint Committee).
Lord Chartres is a member of the House of Lords and the Bishop of London. His full name is Richard John Carew Chartres and he is also a GCVO.
