Archduke Leopold Wilhelm of Austria (5 January 1614 – 20 November 1662), younger brother of Emperor Ferdinand III, was an Austrian soldier, administrator and patron of the arts.
Born in Wiener Neustadt on 5 January 1614, he was the sixth of seven children of Ferdinand II and his first wife Maria Anna of Bavaria. The archduke was a gifted and intelligent child but as a later-born son he had little prospect of succeeding to the throne or ruling as a secular prince.

Leopold Wilhelm played an important role in imperial politics. In 1639 he was entrusted by his brother, Emperor Ferdinand III, with the command of the imperial army. At first he achieved respectable results, succeeding in driving out the Swedes from Bohemia, Saxony and Silesia.

The great significance of Leopold Wilhelm (1614–1662) is based less on his political activity as regent of the Spanish Nether- lands than on his role as a patron of the arts. He compiled a gallery of more than 1400 pictures, most of which are found in the Kunsthistorisches Museum today.
