Michael Edward Utley (born 1947) is an American musician, songwriter, record producer, and musical director for Jimmy Buffett 's Coral Reefer Band . Early life and education. Utley was born in Blytheville in Mississippi County, Arkansas. In 1969, he graduated from the University of Arkansas with a degree in zoology.
Michael Utley. Keyboards . Michael Utley grew up in Arkansas and was heavily influenced by the sounds of Memphis soul and New Orleans rhythm and blues. During spring break of his senior year at the University of Arkansas, Utley had the opportunity to record with Bill Black's Combo in Memphis.

Michael Utley and Mac McAnally, two members of Buffett's backing band – the Coral Reefer Band – produced the album. The album contains three cover songs. "Like My Dog" was originally recorded by Billy Currington for his 2010 album Enjoy Yourself, from which it was released as the fourth single.
