Sir John Ponsonby Conroy, 1st Baronet, KCH (21 October 1786 – 2 March 1854) was a British Army officer who served as comptroller to the Duchess of Kent and her young daughter, Princess Victoria, the future Queen of the United Kingdom.

27 de set. de 2018 · Sir John Conroy was a military officer and a royal servant who influenced the Duchess of Kent, the mother of Queen Victoria, and tried to control the young queen. He was dismissed by Victoria when she became queen in 1837 and died in 1854.
Sir John Ponsonby Conroy, the 1st Baronet was born on 21 October 1786 in Wales, but was of mainly Irish ancestry, claiming descent from the ancient O’Maolconaire family of County Roscommon. He was commissioned into the Royal Artillery in 1803, retiring on half-pay as a Captain in 1822.
