  2. Major-General John Charles Campbell, VC, DSO & Bar, MC (10 January 1894 – 26 February 1942), known as Jock Campbell, was a British Army officer and recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.

  3. On enlisting in 1914 John ‘Jack’ or ‘Jock’ Campbell was a 27-year old medical practitioner living in Toorak. He was allotted as a reinforcement to the 2nd Australian General Hospital, with the rank of Captain. On 10 July he embarked from Alexandria for Gallipoli.
