General Sir Horace Lockwood Smith-Dorrien, GCB, GCMG, DSO, ADC (26 May 1858 – 12 August 1930) was a British Army General. One of the few British survivors of the Battle of Isandlwana as a young officer, he also distinguished himself in the Second Boer War .

A veteran of the 1879 battle of Isandlwana and the Boer War, he assumed command of the II Corps of the British Expeditionary Force from August 1914 and the Second Army from December 1914 to April 1915.
Sir Horace Smith-Dorrien was a British General, prominent during the first year of the First World War. His father was a retired colonel, and after attending Harrow, Smith-Dorrien joined the army in 1876. He was commissioned second lieutenant in the 95th (Derbyshire) foot, before attending Sandhurst.
