John J. Flanagan (born May 7, 1961) is an American politician from Long Island, New York. A Republican, Flanagan represented New York's 2nd State Senate district from 2003 to 2020. He also served as senate majority leader from 2015 to 2019, and as senate minority leader from 2019 to 2020.

During the 15 years he lived in America, he topped the world ranking list 12 times and set 16 world records, culminating with a throw of 184-4 (56.18) on 24 July 1909. For championships, Flanagan could count, besides his Olympic golds, seven AAU hammer titles and six with the 56 lb. weight.
