Cameron Fromanteel Cobbold, 1st Baron Cobbold KG GCVO PC DL (14 September 1904 – 1 November 1987) was a British banker. He served as Governor of the Bank of England from 1949 to 1961 and as Lord Chamberlain from 1963 to 1971.
Cameron Fromanteel Cobbold, a scion of the Suffolk brewing family, was born in 1904 and educated at Eton and King's College, Cambridge. He quickly made his mark in the City and was managing the Milan subsidiary of a British insurance company when Montagu Norman persuaded him to join the Bank of England.
Baron Cobbold, of Knebworth in the County of Hertford, is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created in 1960 for the banker Cameron Cobbold . [2] He was Governor of the Bank of England from 1949 to 1961.
