Claude-Victor Perrin, Duke of Belluno (French pronunciation: [klod viktɔʁ pɛʁɛ̃]; 7 December 1764 – 1 March 1841) was a French military commander who served during the French Revolutionary Wars and the Napoleonic Wars. He was made a Marshal of the Empire in 1807 by Emperor Napoleon I.
Claude Victor-Perrin, duke de Bellune was a leading French general of the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic wars, who was created marshal of France in 1807. In 1781 he entered the army as a private soldier and, after 10 years’ service, received his discharge and settled at Valence.
One of the most brilliant military men serving Napoleon. He fought on all fronts, intervening at two strategic moments: at Marengo (June 14, 1800) and on the banks of the Berezina river (November 17, 1812). At seventeen, Victor was drummer-boy in an artillery regiment in Grenoble.
