Alar Karis (Estonian pronunciation: [ˈɑlɑr ˈkɑris]; born 26 March 1958) is an Estonian molecular geneticist, developmental biologist, civil servant and politician who, since 11 October 2021, has served as the sixth president of Estonia.
Alar Karis was elected as President of the Republic of Estonia by the Riigikogu on 31 August 2021 and was sworn in on 11 October 2021.
Alar Karis (sündinud 26. märtsil 1958 Tartus) on eesti molekulaargeneetik ja arengubioloog, alates 11. oktoobrist 2021 Eesti president. Ta on olnud Eesti Maaülikooli ja Tartu Ülikooli rektor. Aastatel 2013–2018 oli ta riigikontrolör ja 2018–2021 Eesti Rahva Muuseumi direktor.
