Ernest Ansermet (born Nov. 11, 1883, Vevey, Switz.—died Feb. 20, 1969, Geneva) was a Swiss conductor known for his authoritative interpretations of the works of 20th-century French and Russian composers and for his keen intellectual approach to problems of contemporary musical aesthetics.
Ernest Ansermet was a Swiss conductor and a friend of Debussy, Ravel and Stravinsky. He recorded much of the French repertoire with the Orchestre de la Suiss Romande for Decca, both in mono and stereo.
