Jacques Schwarz-Bart (born 22 December 1962 in Les Abymes) is a French jazz saxophonist . Biography. His mother is the Guadeloupean novelist Simone Schwarz-Bart, author of The Bridge of Beyond. His father was French-Jewish author André Schwarz-Bart. The family traveled widely, living in Senegal, Switzerland, and Goyave, Guadeloupe.
Since the release of Jazz Racine Haiti, Jacques Schwarz-Bart has become an ambassador for a school of modern jazz rooted in Voodoo music. Jacques’ impressionistic writing, powerful tone, and wide-ranging language – both lyrical and angular – have fueled a growing presence on the world stage.
Jacques Schwarz-Bart is a saxophonist, composer, and educator who blends jazz and voodoo music. He has collaborated with many renowned artists, released seven albums, and received the Knights of the Arts and Letters award.
