Pangea, supercontinent that incorporated almost all of Earth’s landmasses in early geologic time. Fully assembled by the Early Permian Epoch (some 299 million to about 273 million years ago), it began to break apart about 200 million years ago, eventually forming the modern continents and the Atlantic and Indian oceans.

Pangeia é o nome dado ao continente que existiu na Terra há aproximadamente 200 milhões de anos, durante o final do período Paleozóico e Triássico. O supercontinente era formado pela maioria dos pedaços de terra encontrados no planeta e era rodeado por um único oceano, conhecido como Panthalassa.
Seu nome vem do grego pan , “todos”, e gea , “terra”. Foi proposto pelo geofísico alemão Alfred Wegener (1880-1930), também autor da Teoria da Deriva Continental (1912), este último processo que explica tanto sua formação quanto sua separação. Pode servir a você: eras geológicas.
