Dorothy Shay (April 11, 1921 – October 22, 1978) was an American popular comedic recording artist in the late 1940s and early 1950s, who later became a character actress.
Dorothy Shay (1921-1978) was an American actress, singer and songwriter who performed humorous "hillbilly" songs. She was known for her roles in The Waltons, Matinee Theatre and Comin' Round the Mountain, and recorded "Feudin' and Fightin'" in 1947.

Dorothy Shay was born on April 11, 1921 in Jacksonville, Florida, USA. She was an actress, known for The Waltons (1972), Matinee Theatre (1955) and Comin' Round the Mountain (1951). She was married to Dick Looman.
A popular country-style comedienne, Shay began her music career in 1945 as a blues singer with the Morton Gould Orchestra. A few years later, she changed her musical style and became known as the Park Avenue Hillbillie and regularly joined Spike Jones on his radio series.
