Michael T. Mainieri Jr. (born July 4, 1938) is an American vibraphonist, known for his work with the jazz fusion group Steps Ahead. He is married to the singer-songwriter and harpist Dee Carstensen.

Michael T. Mainieri Jr. was born in New York on July 4, 1938. He began playing vibraphone at age 10. “I was very fortunate because I came from a family of show-business people who were tap dancers, singers, and composers,” Mainieri said in a 1997 Percussive Notes interview.
