The Museum of Art, Rhode Island School of Design (RISD Museum) is an art museum integrated with the Rhode Island School of Design, in Providence, Rhode Island, US. The museum was co-founded with the school in 1877. It is the 20th-largest art museum in the United States, and has seven curatorial departments.
The RISD Museum is the only comprehensive art museum in southeastern New England, with a collection of over 100,000 works from diverse cultures and periods. It offers exhibitions, lectures, tours, workshops and publications for RISD and the broader community.
Collection. Our collection currently contains more than 100,000 works of art and design dating from ancient times to today. Of these objects, 1,732 of them are on view in the museum now. 84,327 of them are available online. There are 1,385 recent acquisitions.
Hours & Admission. HOURS: TUE, WED, FRI, SAT, SUN 10am - 5pm, THU 12 - 8pm. The museum is closed on June 19th, July 4th, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day. Admission is free on Sundays from 10am - 5pm and Thursday evenings from 5 - 8pm. Advance ticket purchase is recommended for your convenience.
