The burgomaster's daughter is married to the Hun Lieutenant who, with the major, is sent to take possession of her father's house, and finds himself in an agonizing position when the gentle old man is condemned to be shot because one of the German officers has been murdered - probably by one of his own taking vengeance upon a brutal bully.
