In Order to Survive (Russian: Чтобы выжить, tr. Chtoby Vyzhit or Chtoby Perezhit), also known as Red Mob, is a 1992 Russian action film directed and co-written by Vsevolod Plotkin, and starring Vladimir Menshov, Alexander Rosenbaum, and Sergey Veksler.
The early 1990s film, Red Mob (Chtoby Vyzhit), goes a long way toward answering my question. In 1992, following the collapse of the Soviet Union, an alliance between the KGB and organized crime syndicates thrives on violence and disorder for their illicit drug operations.
