I 1926 flyr Nobile luftskipet «Norge» gjennom Europa til Norge og Svalbard. På Svalbard er Amundsen, Ellsworth og resten av mannskapet klare til å fortsette ferden over polpunktet, samtidig som Richard E. Byrd ankommer Svalbard for å fly samme vei før Amundsen får tatt av med luftskipet.
The film shows the entire enterprise: footage of Rome and the airship's presentation at the Norwegian Aero-Club in the presence of Mussolini, the journey to Ny-Ålesund and the polar departure on 11 May 1926.
