Sinopse. Melina Mercouri interpreta uma atriz que tenta retornar com uma encenação da tragédia grega "Medéia" (sobre uma mulher que mata seus filhos) em sua Grécia natal. Como golpe publicitário, ela arranja um encontro com uma mulher americana (Ellen Burstyn) que está cumprindo uma pena de prisão por matar seus próprios filhos.
As the movie unfolds, the Passion Play becomes a reality. A group of villagers, uprooted by the war and impoverished, arrive at the village led by their priest. The wealthier citizens of the town want nothing with these people and manipulate a massacre.

Melina Mercouri plays an actress who is attempting a comeback with a staging of the Greek tragedy ‘Medea’ in her native Greece. As a publicity stunt, she arranges a meeting with an American woman who is serving a prison term for killing her own children.
