Souls at Sea is a 1937 American historical adventure film directed by Henry Hathaway and starring Gary Cooper and George Raft. Based on a story by Ted Lesser, the film is about a first mate on a slave ship who frees the slaves on the ship after a mutiny overthrows the ship's captain.

Almas no Mar/Souls at Sea, produção da Paramount de 1937, dirigida por Henry Hathaway, não chega a ser um grande filme, na minha opinião. Mas tem qualidades, e uma importância significativa: é um dos poucos filmes de Hollywood a tratar de frente do tráfico de escravos, essa tremenda, pavorosa chaga da História da humanidade.
Souls at Sea combines two high stakes plots - blockade of the African slave trade and what happened to the William Brown in 1841 (the Titanic before the Titanic).
