Thomas Henry Bingham, Baron Bingham of Cornhill, KG, PC, FBA (13 October 1933 – 11 September 2010) was a British judge who was successively Master of the Rolls, Lord Chief Justice and Senior Law Lord. On his death in 2010, he was described as the greatest judge of his generation.
Thomas Henry Bingham was the most prominent judicial figure in England & Wales in the last years of the 20th Century and the opening decade of the 21st. He was the first Judge to hold (in succession) the three major offices of Master of the Rolls, Lord Chief Justice, and Senior Law Lord.

Following in Lord Denning’s shoes as Master of the Rolls might have seemed a prestigious zenith of Tom Bingham’s legal career, but on Lord Taylor’s untimely retirement from office in 1996, Lord Mackay, the Lord Chancellor, selected him as the new Lord Chief Justice.
