RAYMOND T. CHEN was appointed by President Barack H. Obama in 2013. Judge Chen served as Deputy General Counsel for Intellectual Property Law and Solicitor at the United States Patent and Trademark Office from 2008 to 2013. He was an Associate Solicitor in that office from 1998 to 2008.
Chen to serve as a United States Circuit Judge of the United States Court of Appealed for the Federal Circuit. The Senate confirmed his nominated 97-0, and he assumed office in August 2013. He was the second Asian American judge and first Taiwanese American judge to serve on the Federal Circuit.
