Now known as Jackie Joyner-Kersee after marrying her coach Bob Kersee, she entered the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, Korea and earned gold medals in both the heptathlon and the long jump. At the Games, she set the still-standing heptathlon world record of 7,291 points.
Joyner-Kersee easily won the heptathlon again at the 1992 Games in Barcelona. In the long jump, she gained a bronze medal. At the age of 34, Joyner-Kersee competed in the Olympic Games one last time, at the 1996 Olympic Games.
