Ethel Shannon (May 22, 1898 – July 10, 1951) was an American actress. She appeared in over 30 silent movies in the early 20th century.
Ethel Shannon. Actress: The Phantom Express. Ethel May Shannon's parents divorced when she was a child and her mother Agnes got a job as a housekeeper. After high school she moved to Los Angeles, California. A friend suggested that they should start working as film extras.

Ethel was a popular silent-film actress who retired in the late 1920s. Following her husband's tragic drowning, she became an alcoholic and died at age 53 from cirrhosis of the liver.
