Micah Howard enjoys an enriching career as both a performer and a teacher. He joined the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in 1996 at the age of 25. As a Pittsburgh Symphony member, he has toured five continents, including Europe, Asia, Australia, South America, and North America.

“Micah Howard is one of the most talented double bass instructors today. His approach to teaching is specific to the needs of each individual student while fostering a strong sense of community in his bass studio.
Since the spring of 2000, he has been teaching string bass as adjunct faculty at the Dana School of Music, Youngstown State University, and is also an adjunct professor at Duquesne University. At Carnegie Mellon, Howard serves as Artist Lecturer in Double Bass.
