Hildegarde Hawthorne and her father Julian Hawthorne, from a 1907 publication. Hildegarde Hawthorne (September 25, 1871 – December 10, 1952) was an American writer of supernatural and ghost stories, a poet and biographer.
Hildegarde Hawthorne is the daughter of Julian Hawthorne and granddaughter of Nathaniel and Sophia Hawthorne. She wrote at least 26 books ranging from biographies to travel narratives. Hildegarde's began selling articles to St. Nicholas Magazine at 16 years old.
