In July 1975, Steven Van Zandt joined Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band and subsequently accompanied him on the Born to Run tour. Meanwhile back in Asbury Park , the Jukes became Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes and continued to play as the house band at the Stone Pony .
