As a writer, producer and solo artist, Phil Manzanera has worked with many of the luminaries of modern music, such as Steve Winwood, David Gilmour, John Cale, Godley & Creme, Nico and John Wetton. He has co-written material with many artists, including Brian Eno, Tim Finn, Robert Wyatt and Gilmour.
After the breakup of King Crimson at the end of 1974, Wetton was in progressive rock and hard rock bands including Roxy Music (1974–1975), Uriah Heep (1975–1976), U.K. (1977–1980), and Wishbone Ash (1980–1981).
Proving that even unassailably tasteful artists can take a dive, Manzanera made an unfortunate album with onetime bandmate John Wetton, following the latter’s superstar sojourn in Asia. Wetton/Manzanera is depressing commercial tripe seemingly geared to relaunch Wetton’s career from Asia’s coattails.
