Theodor Uhlig (15 February 1822 – 3 January 1853) was a German violin-player, composer and music critic. He was the illegitimate son of Frederick Augustus II of Saxony.

Theodor Uhlig was a German viola-player, composer and music critic. Background An illegitimate son of King Frederick Augustus II of Saxony, Uhlig became a member of the Dresden orchestra at the age of 19.

Richard Wagner (1813–83) grew up in Dresden and served as Kapellmeister to King Frederick Augustus II of Saxony there from 1843 until he was forced to flee the country after the 1849 uprising. His operas Rienzi and Der fliegende Holländer received their first performances at the Dresden Court Theatre.
