Michael Theodore Malinin (born October 10, 1967) is an American musician known for his work as drummer of the Goo Goo Dolls. He played drums for Tanya Tucker from July 2016 to February 2023, and now plays with the Nashville based band, The FBR.
31 de out. de 2022 · Following the departure of George Tutuska in 1995, the Goo Goo Dolls brought in a new drummer, Michael Malinin, who sat behind the kit for the band for 18 years, playing on all of the band's subsequent big hits, and providing the rhythm for hundreds of concert gigs, per AllMusic.
Raised in Miami, Mike Malinin began playing drums the summer before 7th grade. From the beginning, he knew he wanted to make it his profession. From 8th grade on, he spent most of his time playing music with his friends, participating in school bands, and learning his craft.
Just before A Boy Named Goo's release, Tutuska was fired from the band and replaced by Mike Malinin. Prior to Tutuska's departure, there was a payment dispute between him and Rzeznik over Tutuska's contribution to the writing of the Superstar Car Wash single "Fallin' Down".
