KLE Technological University (KLE Tech) has its roots in one of the premier engineering institutions of Karnataka, B. V. Bhoomaraddi College of Engineering and Technology (BVB), a prestigious engineering college in Hubballi.
The Institution is recognized under Section 2 (f) of UGC Act 1956. The Institute conducts a full range of academic activities in the field of Engineering and Management education covering research, teaching, training, consulting and intellectual infrastructure development.
KLE Technological University (formerly BVBCET) was established by the Karnatak Lingayat Education Society (KLE Society) in 1947. It owes its original name to the businessman-philanthropist Shri Basappa Veerappa Bhoomaraddi. It began as a polytechnic in Gadag but shifted to Hubli in 1948 and upgraded itself to a college.

A university since 2012, KLE’s current focuses are engineering, management and law. But it has set itself the target of emerging as a multidisciplinary research university by 2031. It currently enrols more than 8,000 undergraduate students and 700 postgraduates.
