Thunder In Guyana. Full Description. In the fall of 1977, Janet Rosenberg Jagan, a Jewish woman from Chicago, became the President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana. In the 1940s, Janet fell in love with Chedi Jagan, a Guyanese student of Indian descent who shared her left-wing politics and zest for life.
