Peter Rivera, also known as Peter Hoorelbeke, was the original voice and beat of Motown's Rare Earth, a band that played rock, funk, soul, and psychedelic fusion. He left the band in 1983 and formed the Classic Rock All Stars, and released his autobiography and music video about Detroit's decline.

Rare Earth consisted of lead singer Peter Hoorelbeke, trumpeter Gil Bridges, guitarist Rod Richards, bass guitarist John Parrish (aka John Persh), and keyboard player Kenny James. Peter, who went by Peter Rivera on stage, and Gil were the only two original Sunliners.
