Deep in the Heart of Nowhere is the first solo studio album by Bob Geldof, the ex-Boomtown Rats lead singer. It was released in November 1986. The collection reached No. 79 for one week in the UK Albums Chart in December 1986.

Deep in the Heart of Nowhere bears the onerous marks of Rupert Hine’s tritely commercial overproduction, but contains both swell tunes and true wretchedness. Returning various favors, the album’s cast includes Dave Stewart, Annie Lennox, Midge Ure, Brian Setzer, Eric Clapton and Alison Moyet.

Deep in the Heart of Nowhere features a host of name performers ranging from Midge Ure (Ultravox) to Brian Setzer (Stray Cats) to Eric Clapton lending a hand. The lyrics are a bit self-conscious and overreaching at moments, but, with all of the talent on board, the album does have some winning tracks.
